Italy`s History
Italy has a fascinating history that is unlike any other countries. Around 100,000 years ago the first evidence of human beings were found. However the first “human beings” were not like modern humans today because they were called home erectus. These not as advanced human beings are believed to have first settled near where current day Rome is located. The evidence that human beings known as home erectus first lived here is present in different types of tools and also in cave drawings that have been found. The first evidence of modern humans proposes the theory that they entered into Italy round 10,000 years ago.
Around 700 BC the majority of Italy’s population was made up of Indo-Europeans who spoke Italic. However, during this time period the dominant group in Italy was Etruscans who were from a different origin. Around the time the 4th century hits the Etruscans start to lose power to the Romans. The Romans with their great power began to extend their power over all of Italy. Italy first became popular during the Roman Empire and began to develop and populate quickly. Italy started with the control of a single power – Rome and stayed like this until the 5th century A.D. The modern nation of Italy was formed in 1861 and continues to be both a strong and powerful country today.
Italy remains to be a highly populated area with approximately 60.92 million residents living there as of 2013 and growing. They are continuing to grow due to their high birth rate, long life span, and low death rate. Compared to the United States which averages a life span of 78 years old the life span is higher in Italy at 82 years old. With each coming year Italy has continued to grow and is projected to follow this same pattern for the next hundred years. Italy is now considered the 23rd largest country population wise.

All about Italy`s Population
Listed below are two population pyramids from two different years From looking at population pyramids for Italy I was able to find two examples that show differences in men and women life expectancys. For my first example I found a population pyramid for 1960 which shows that 0% of males or females lived to age 80. I also found out that women outlived men by 0.3% and were able to live to between age 75 to 79. Furthermore from looking at this pyramid I also noticed that this pyramid progressed evenly , but did decrease for both genders at around ages 40 to 45. The pyramid also seems to narrow and come inward as the ages increase. The population for this year is around 48,841,000 and overall has a similar amount of women and men.
When I looked at the other population pyramid for Italy in the year of 2010 I noticed that this pyramid had some major differences compared to the one from 1960. In this pyramid the population was 60,552,000 people which is a major increase of people from 1960. Also from this pyramid I noticed that women are still out living men by 0.2% with some women living to between ages 95 and 99. Overall if you look at this pyramid the ages with the greatest percentages are around ages 35 to 49 years old. Furthermore this pyramid for 2010 was a completely different shape and showed people living longer.
